Review: Jack Dee, Wolverhampton Civic Hall

Jack Dee complained his way through the latest stop on his tour in front of a sold-out crowd at Wolverhampton Civic Hall last night.
With his stock-in-trade dry wit, the deadpan comic basically moaned for a whole two hours, but of course drew laughs aplenty.
Dee is one of those comedians you either love or hate depending on how much you like to groan yourself.
And as is the case when most people are ranting, you can see the funny side of the point they are making, and the hub of his jokes reflect exactly that.
He doesn't have to try to be old-school funny, he won Celebrity Big Brother in 2001 being himself – a miserable old so and so.
An opening salvo set the tone, as he apologised for his 10-minutes late arrival because Gary Numan's gig at the Wulfrun Hall had caused traffic problems – 'In Cars,' he reflected, ho ho ho!
His rant and rave about teenagers hit a nerve with everyone and you can only have pity for the poor young man who has him for a father nagging day in and day out.
Jack Dee was 100 per cent true to form here – miserable and hilariously witty with it.
And the funniest thing of all is we wouldn't have him any other way.
