Two top TV actors and former chart-topper visited Stone to help with auditions for a new stage school.

Ian Kelsey, who made his name on the soap Emmerdale and former Coronation Street star Angela Griffin were joined by ex-Atomic Kitten singer Liz McClarnon at the town's Rooftop Studios yesterday.

More than 100 youngsters, aged from eight to 18, tried out for London-based Pop School and Stage Academy (PSSA) which is branching out to establish a base in Staffordshire for nurturing young talent.

PSSA patron Ian Kelsey, who has starred in Casualty, Down to Earth and Blue Murder, also played Danny Zuko in the West End production of the musical Grease.

The PSSA was founded by Ian's wife Mia Terry and her sister Laura Bird, who both have extensive experience in the music industry and working in West End stage musicals. Their mother Elaine Bird is principal of Rooftop Studios.

Rooftop Studios, which has been going for 15 years, currently runs dance and drama classes during weekday evenings.
