Jon Brady frustrated as Port Vale pegged back by Tranmere

Boss is backing striker Mo Faal to make his mark in due course though.
Port Vale boss Jon Brady was left disappointed at his side’s attacking performance, as the Valiants continued their winless start in League Two with a 1-1 home draw against Tranmere Rovers.
Striker Mo Faal missed two close-range headers as the hosts looked to add to George Byers’ first-half penalty, and Vale paid the price for those misses when Tom Ince netted an equaliser on 72 minutes.
Despite feeling it was two points dropped, Brady insists there were positives to take at Vale Park, and the Australian backed Faal to turn his fortunes around.
He said: “We’re very frustrated. We had three big chances, and we should’ve put them away. We had plenty of territory around their box, and we should’ve created better opportunities.
“Our decision making was really frustrating and we rushed chances. They had very little until the goal, and when I watch it back, we should clear it. We were indecisive in that moment.
“It’s not a given that we win every match. League Two is tough, and we’re going through a tough start. Overall, we should win today.
“We get a good chance at 1-0, and it was a tame header. We then get an unbelievable opportunity in the six-yard box, and we don’t put it away.
“Fair play to Mo, he put his hands up. He takes responsibility and I believe the goals will come. Top strikers miss, but they keep coming back and I believe in him.”
Tranmere meanwhile carried on their unbeaten start to the campaign, despite centre-back Bobby Faulkner being forced in goal for the second half due to an injury to Harrison Male.
Manager Darrell Clarke was delighted with the character his side showed, while reserving extra credit for the emergency goalkeeper.
He said: “They showed resilience and experience. We lose our goalkeeper which was a massive blow, but credit to my players and a special mention to Bobby.
“It’s one of those things, and I take accountability for it. We had that plan in place in case something did happen. We had conversations with the lads about having no number two for a week, and Bobby enjoys defending so he was an option!
“He’s a great kid, but he’s a proper man and the fans have already taken to him which is great. But my lads and my supporters give me everything to get a well-earned point against a team that’s going to be right up there.
“It was a battling performance from us, and to a man we were superb. It’s not like we had loads of defending to do, either.
“Bobby made one save and wasn’t really troubled. We still looked dangerous on the counter attack, too. So, I’m really pleased.”
