Jelle van Damme has cast fresh doubts over his Wolves career after admitting he wants to return to his former club Anderlecht in January.

Just a week after first revealing his homesickness, the 26-year-old has again been quoted in the Belgian press, this time claiming he has told boss Mick McCarthy he would go back to Anderlecht in January given the chance.

The £2.5million summer signing is having difficulty settling in England for the second time, with both his child and heavily pregnant wife back in Belgium.

And van Damme, who is only just regaining full fitness after an ankle injury sustained on his Wolves debut, claims a return move could be on the cards when the transfer window re-opens.

He said: "The Wolves coach asked me - if you had the chance to return to Anderlecht, would you do it? I have answered, yes.

"If we conclude in January it won't work between Wolverhampton both sides could leave as good friends."

Reports indicate Anderlecht fans were chanting Van Damme's name at their Jupiler League defeat by Standard Liege last weekend.

The left-sided player insists that won't sway his return, but appears to regret his move to Wolves.

He said: "I've heard something about that, but this won't change my situation. Am I sorry I left? Sorry is a big word.

"At a certain moment Anderlecht and I made a decision."

McCarthy only admitted last week the 26-year-old was struggling to adapt to his new surroundings.

But the manager is still looking forward for the former Ajax and Southampton man putting his problems behind him and be ready for his first 90 minutes for Wolves' first team by figuring for Belgium in their Euro 2012 qualifiers.

He said: "I'm hoping van Damme plays for Belgium and gets his games on international duty."

If true, van Damme's revelation is the latest grim bulletin to hit Wolves.

Captain Karl Henry is banned for three games and the team are reeling from a Premier League club record four straight defeats.

In addition, Ronald Zubar is out for a further month after ankle surgery, although Stephen Hunt will make his comeback in the reserves next week.
