James Morrison delivers concerning update after West Brom ace suffers injury

The right-back went off in the second half of Wednesday’s win at Derby.

Albion are sweating on the fitness of Nolan Galves after the full-back suffered a knee injury in Wednesday’s win at Derby.

Galves is due to undergo a scan but Baggies boss James Morrison admitted the initial prognosis “didn’t look good”.

The 23-year-old, who joined Albion from Rodez in the summer, was hurt after coming off worse in a challenge with Rams winger Mo Fuseini early in the second half at Pride Park.

Galves had been introduced off the bench in the 37th minute after debutant Brayann Pereira had been sent-off.

“He will be assessed like always but it didn’t look good,” said Morrison. “It was his knee. It doesn’t look good.”

Albion, who had taken the lead through Aune Heggebo’s 16th minute strike, held on with 10 men to record just their second league win away at Derby since 1919.

But the injury to Galves was a definite blot on a brilliant win, with Morrison now facing a headache over who plays at right-back when the Baggies host QPR on Saturday lunchtime.

Left-back Callum Styles played on the right side for the final 38 minutes following Galves’ injury at Derby.
