'You never know': Wolves man targeting World Cup history after thumping four goal warm-up victory
The Wolves midfielder is looking to make World Cup history.
Wolves midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde has targeting World Cup history after he helped Haiti kicked off their World Cup warm-ups matches in fine style.
The 27-year-old, who featured 31 times for Wolves as they suffered relegation from the Premier League, played a hand in Haiti reaching the expanded World Cup for the first time since 1974.
The Caribbean country are of course one of the big outsiders in the competition - and are among the lowest ranked sides heading to the US.
However, they kicked off their warm-ups in style with a 4-0 victory over New Zealand before they face Peru on Saturday.
Bellegarde was a second half substitute in their victory - as they now have eyes on taking down Scotland in their first group stage match of the competition.
That is followed by clashes with Brazil and Morocco - and the midfielder insists that he and his team-mates know how big it will be to win just one game at this summer’s tournament.

Bellegarde, who was born in France and is of Haitian descent, said: “I grew up always wanting to play in the World Cup one day. All the people want to see the World Cup, and when I play in it, I want to give my best, but we need to believe we can play well against the big teams who we will come up against.
“It would be an incredible achievement for my country to win a game at the World Cup. We don’t know what the aim is, because we know it’s going to be very difficult, but we need to try to just take it game by game, try to play well, and see what happens.
“If we play well, you don’t know what could happen.
“It’s amazing for me. It’s the second World Cup for Haiti and I hope we can show a good face for the team, play well and represent the country as best as we can.
“It’s going to be a very different situation to what I’ve experienced at Wolves this season, but now the Premier League season is finished I need to switch my focus and my mentality to my country and I hope I can join them and give them more of my good energy to the team and for everyone.”
