The seven Wolves players that will play at this summer's World Cup

Which Wolves players will be playing at the World Cup?

Seven Wolves players will represent their country this summer at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

After a terrible season for the club, which ended in relegation from the Premier League, a number of players missed out on a call-up, including Joao Gomes and Andre with Brazil, Yerson Mosquera with Colombia and Enso Gonzalez with Paraguay.

For J.Gomes, he was named in Brazil’s 55-man preliminary squad, but he did not receive the final call-up to make the 26-man squad.

But seven players will travel for the tournament, which starts next week.

Ladislav Krejci

After scoring twice in the play-offs to help the Czech Republic to their first World Cup in 20 years, Krejci will captain his country in North America.

Their first game in Group A will see them come up against South Korea and Wolves team-mate Hwang Hee-chan in Guadalajara on Friday, June 12 with a 3am kick-off UK time.

Czechia will then face South Africa on June 18 in Atlanta before taking on Mexico on June 25 in their capital Mexico City.

The opening game of the whole tournament will see Mexico face South Africa on June 11, with an 8pm kick-off UK time, where former Wolves striker Raul Jimenez is likely to feature for Mexico - amid talks with Wolves over a sensational return to the club.

Hwang Hee-chan

It will be Hwang’s third World Cup with his country after also being selected for the tournaments in Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022.

The forward famously scored a last-minute goal against Portugal four years ago to send South Korea to the knockout stages.

After facing Krejci and the Czech Republic, Hwang and South Korea take on Mexico in Guadalajara on June 19 and then travel to Monterey to play South Africa on June 25.

Jose Sa

The goalkeeper has been included in a World Cup squad with Portugal for the second time and he goes into this tournament now with four caps to his name.

Their first two games are both being played in Houston as Portugal play Congo DR and Uzbekistan on June 17 and June 23 respectively.

Their final group game will take place in Miami on June 28 when they face Colombia.

Sa is the only current Wolves player in the Portugal squad - although he is likely to depart this summer - while there are seven former Wolves players selected alongside him in Ruben Neves, Nelson Semedo, Pedro Neto, Goncalo Guedes, Matheus Nunes, Francisco Trincao and Vitinha.

Santi Bueno

2026 will mark Bueno’s first World Cup having been named in the preliminary squad four years ago, but he missed out on the final cut.

The defender captained his nation in October and will be hoping to make his World Cup debut when Uruguay face Saudi Arabia in Miami on June 15.

They stay in Miami for their second game against Cape Verde on June 21 before travelling to Guadalajara to play Spain on June 27.

David Moller Wolfe

This will be Norway’s first World Cup since 1998 and Wolfe has been named in the squad - as well as former Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen - while Norway are managed by former Wolves boss Stale Solbakken.

Wolfe started every match on their way to qualification and is likely to start for his country when they play Iraq in Boston on June 16.

On June 23 they play Senegal at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, just west of New York City, which will also be the venue for the World Cup final on July 19.

Norway’s final group game will see them return to Boston to play France on June 26.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde

There will be another World Cup debut when Bellegarde travels to North America with Haiti.

The Wolves midfielder made his Haiti debut in September and was a key part of their qualification.

On June 14 they will play their first group game when they take on Scotland in Boston before playing Brazil in Philadelphia on June 20.

Finally, they move on to Atlanta to play Morocco on June 24.

Sasa Kalajdzic

The seventh and final Wolves player to feature at the tournament will be Kalajdzic, who enjoyed a strong loan spell at Austrian side LASK this season where he won the league and cup double.

Kalajdzic played for Austria at Euro 2020 but has never featured in a World Cup and could earn his tournament debut on June 27 when Austria play Jordan in San Francisco.

They then take on Argentina in Dallas on June 22 before playing Algeria in Kansas on June 28 - where he is likely to come up against former Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri.
