"Very intense" - Wolves goalkeeper on pre-season under Cesar Peixoto so far
Bentley has been reflecting on life under the new Wolves head coach so far.
Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley says pre-season training has been “very intense” under new head coach Cesar Peixoto so far - but that the group will benefit from it in the new season.
Peixoto has now taken his Wolves squad on a pre-season training camp in Portugal and put his new players through their paces in their first session in the Algarve on Monday.
“Long may it continue” - Bentley on “intense” pre-season preparations
On life under the new boss so far, Bentley told the club: “It’s been a tough week. They’ve been very intense.
“We’ve all grafted, but we’ve all been together and we’ve completed it. I feel like we’re going to be better for it.
“Long may it continue. We want to get to know each other better, improve the camaraderie and come away from here fitter and better.”
Bentley is currently the only senior goalkeeper in the training camp in Portugal, with Jose Sa yet to return from World Cup duty and Sam Johnstone out with a shoulder injury.
And the 33-year-old, who celebrated his birthday on Monday, says he’s relishing the opportunity to pass on his know-how to a youthful goalkeeping department in Portugal.
“I’m passing on my experience and know-how to them”
“I have responsibility as a senior player anyway, so it’s nothing too dissimilar to what I’m used to,” the goalkeeper continued.
“I’ve got the young pup goalkeepers with me, so obviously I’m passing on my experience and know-how to them.
“I’m helping them when they need little pointers and any guidance, which is again all part of my responsibility as a senior player and a senior goalkeeper.
“It’s nothing too dissimilar to what I’m used to in terms of leadership.
“I’ve been in leadership groups my whole career and always been in a position where I’m happy to pass on my knowledge and experience, having played a lot of games and been around for a long time at the tender age of 33.
“The more I can help my teammates and those around me, the better. If I can pass on my knowledge and help other people, that’s something I’m more than willing to do.”
