The Wolves managers with the shortest reigns in the 21st Century

Rob Edwards has been sacked by Wolves after just seven months in charge - here’s how he stacks up against previous Wolves managers.

There have been quite a few short reigns since the turn of the century - and here they all are, from Terry Connor to Rob Edwards.

But just where does Rob stack up against those who have come - and gone - before him?

Find out below.

Games: 30

Days: 211

Edwards was relieved of his duties today, seven months after he was brought in with one eye on rebuilding in the Championship.

During that time, he managed just five wins and nine draws, losing the other 16.

Julen Lopetegui

Games: 27

Days: 268

Lopetegui may have lasted longer in terms of days, but that was mainly down to the fact he waited until late in the summer to pull the plug on his Wolves career.

This time it was the Spaniard who made the decision to go after a disagreement with the Wolves hierarchy.

He is at this summer’s World Cup with Qatar.

Games: 34

Days: 206

Clocking in just under Edwards’ time in charge due to the fact Fosun were ready to move on in the summer of 2017 and replace Lambert with Nuno Espirito Santo.

That would prove to be a shrewd move - leading to Wolves’ most glorious period of their recent history.

Games: 17

Days: 87

The first appointment of the Fosun area was a short-lived experiment.

The fiery Italian won six and drew four of his 17 matches in charge of a hastily-assembled squad, but departed with Wolves struggling in the Championship.

Dean Saunders

Games: 20

Days: 120

Brought in to replace the next man on our list, but could only oversee Wolves plummeting to League One.

Won just five and drew five more of his 20 matches in charge.

Stale Solbakken

Games: 30

Days: 189

Brought in following Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League, but rather than mount an immediate challenge for promotion, they continued to nose dive.

Sacked in January and replaced by Dean Saunders, who could not save them from dropping to the third tier.

Solbakken has successfully rebuilt his managerial career, however, and will be leading Erling Haaland and Norway at this summer’s World Cup.

Terry Connor

Games: 13

Days: 128

Wolves had little plan following the sacking of Mick McCarthy after the disastrous Black Country Derby defeat at the hands of Albion.

They turned to McCarthy’s No.2 Connor, but he failed to win any of his 13 games in charge as they were relegated from the Premier League and reverted to his assistant role at the end of the season.

Wolves had already announced the appointment of Solbakken as his replacement before the final game of the season, but the Norwegian did not officially take over until July 1. Connor left his assistant’s role in September.
