The hugely popular head coach grabbed the microphone for an unplanned speech in front of 1,600 people at the Telford International Centre.

Nuno said: "I will start with the ownership, I think we began something together and thank you for the support.

"The people that were here, Laurie, Kevin, Matt, all the staff at Molineux, everybody, every single person.

"The medical department, the kit men, and on and on. But special thanks to my team – we came from far away and we love it.

"Then the fans...they are everything for us, everything. This is why we are here, this is why we work.

"Honestly, from day one I felt something was going on in Austria when I had people coming to me, you cannot expect that, people coming from so far away to support you against a Polish team. I was surprised.

"From then until now it's been incredible.

"All the stadiums in the country, on Tuesday nights, cold, with the yellow ball...you were there and that means a lot, coming at the end of the game and celebrating with you.

"Thank you – and now we have a dream!

"Finally I think it's the most important, this is the engine, this is what moves things...it's my players. Thank you. I already miss you! But we begin June 27, I already spoke to you.

"You know what we have to do – and we will do it."

Host Johnny Phillips then asked: "Any personal highlights for you during the season?"

"For me it's day one until the last day, every moment is important," Nuno replied. "There were memorable moments that were special for everyone, but every day, even when you go to training and it's f****** freezing!"

Phillips added: "How are you going to take this winning mentality into the Premier League?"

"We don't have to think where we are – we just have to focus on ourselves," Nuno said.

"And we will do. It's about building and being able to create an identity, it doesn't matter the competition we're in.

"We know it's going to be tough, it's a big, big challenge. Everyone knows.

"But we are ready, no doubts about that. We've already started working, things are moving, the club is growing. The support of the fans, believing.

"I will keep my feet on the ground.

"We have to enjoy ourselves and every day we'll work for it."
