Wolves are plotting a move for Scottish left back Barry Douglas, it is believed.

The 27-year-old is currently plying his trade with Turkish top flight side Konyaspor and it's thought Wolves would need to pay at least £1million to buy the defender.

But they face tough competition from Celtic for his signature.

Wolves are currently without a recognised first-team left back in their squad. Matt Doherty has filled in during the past 18 months but ex-boss Paul Lambert said he considered the Irishman to be out of position.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Silvio and George Saville have also played there but in reality Wolves have yet to sufficiently replace Scott Golbourne since he left for Bristol City in January 2016.

Douglas has enjoyed a varied career which has included spells with Dundee United, Lech Poznan and now Konyaspor.

After making his name with the Tangerines he made a shock switch to Polish side Lech Poznan in 2013, spending two and a half year with the club and winning a league title and a Polish Supercup. Douglas also played in Champions League qualifiers and the Europa League group stage.

He moved to Konyaspor 18 months ago and helped them to a ninth-placed finish in the Turkish Super Lig this season.

Wolves are believed to have scouted Douglas for some time, with Lambert keen on signing the left-back. He could now become the fourth defender to move to Molineux in the past month since Nuno Espirito Santo took charge, after Ryan Bennett, Roderick Miranda and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh.
