Dudley pub's day of activities to pay for regular's home adaptations

Pub holds day of fundraising to allow customer to return home

A Black Country pub is hosting a day of activities tomorrow to allow one of its regulars to live comfortably at home after being taken ill in Spain.

The Cabin in Sedgley is hosting a fundraising day to pay for adaptations to the home of Chris ‘Chopper’ Hall, who was taken ill on a family holiday in the summer of last year.

He was taken to a hospital in Majorca, where he spent four months before being able to return to Britain.

Since then he has spent time at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, New Cross in Wolverhampton and Russells Hall in Dudley.

Licensee Jemma Cooke said “Chris is a much-loved and well-known member of our community.

“Whilst on holiday with his family, he suffered an unexpected bleed on the brain, and has been fighting incredibly hard to get home ever since.

“Chris needs alterations to his home so he can finally return safely and comfortably to his family, friends and the community that loves and misses him.”

Events will take place at the pub in Northway from 11am until late evening.

There will be an auction for shirts signed by the Wolves and West Bromwich Albion teams, a raffle, quiz night and bingo session, as well as a car wash, cake stall, tombola, as well as games and challenges.
