Kidderminster-born Evans made football history in 1968 when the striker became Britain's most expensive teenager, moving from Wolves to Liverpool for the princely sum of £100,000.

The 19-year-old is said to have caught Bill Shankly's eye in a game between the two clubs.

He played 22 times for Wolves, scoring four goals. Shankly put the 19-year-old straight into his team and in his third match Evans scored twice in a 6-0 win – over Wolves. He netted 21 in 79 at Anfield before Kevin Keegan's arrival prompted his exit to Villa.

Emlyn Hughes

Hughes played no fewer than 665 games for the Reds, winning two European Cups, two UEFA Cups, an FA Cup and four league titles, as well as the Footballer of the Year Award in 1977.

He joined Wolves in 1979, partnering George Berry in defence, and in his first season he skippered Wolves to a League Cup win at Wembley – the club's last major trophy. Hughes left for Rotherham as player-manager in 1981.

Paul Ince

Another who skippered both sides, Ince enjoyed a glittering career and had played for Manchester United and Inter Milan by the time he moved to Liverpool in 1997.

The Guv'nor played 81 times for Liverpool and via a spell at Middlesbrough joined Wolves in 2002.

He played 45 of 55 games in that first season, driving the club to promotion via the play-offs, and would stay for four years in total, netting 12 times in 131 matches, the second highest appearance figure of all his clubs behind United. Ince also won 53 England caps.

Robbie Keane

Keane followed in Evans' footsteps when he too became Britain's most expensive teenager upon leaving Wolves, although his transfer fee was £5.9m higher.

The Irishman exploded on to the scene in 1997 with two debut goals at Norwich aged 17 and would score 29 in 87 matches for the club before departing for Coventry.

Via Inter Milan, Leeds and Spurs he wound up at Liverpool in 2008 for £19m. However, his time at Anfield wouldn't be a success – after just six months he was sold back to Spurs for £12m.

Sheyi Ojo

Winger Ojo spent six months on loan at Wolves from Liverpool last season, scoring three times in 19 appearances under Kenny Jackett.

He's by no means the first Liverpool man to be loaned to Molineux. Mark Walters and Paul Stewart did so in 1994, as did midfielder Darren Potter in 2006 before joining Wolves permanently.

The former MK Dons youth player and England youth international is likely to face his former team-mates tomorrow, as is Conor Coady, who spent 15 years at Anfield as a youngster.
