Steve Bull: Time for Wolves players to stand up and be counted
It's been another tough week at Wolves – things aren't getting any easier.
I was really disappointed with the performances against Sheffield Wednesday. I thought they were very poor, particularly in the first half.
I couldn't even put my finger on it. As soon as that first goal went in things just fell apart and they were running around like headless chickens.
It was like the team had only just been put together. Wednesday could have been three or four up at half time and it was a bit like the Derby game in that respect.
Credit for an improved second half performance but it just wasn't enough.
We don't want to see any more performances like that. It's not going to get them anywhere in this league.
Their heads maybe dropped after the first goal and they lacked confidence, but it shouldn't be like that.
Players needed to grab the game by the scruff of the neck but no one was. We're definitely lacking leaders.
The table doesn't look great and Wigan winning at Huddersfield didn't help but I'd be far more worried if we were in this position at the end of January or February.
For the here and now they're in a bit of trouble and it's going to take a lot of guts and hard work to get out of it.
For me the players need to stand tall and be counted.
They keep on conceding early goals week after week but if that happens they can't let their heads go down, the fans won't accept it.
It's about taking a positive approach, getting on the front foot and having a go at teams.
We want to see a couple of wingers getting at their full backs and getting that ball into the box. We're not seeing enough of that.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of changes at QPR tomorrow night.
Nouha Dicko came on and did well and I'd be playing him with Jon Dadi Bodvarsson up front.
George Saville is quality footballer but he's no left winger and we need someone who's going to attack and be creative on that left flank.
And we need a solid backline as well. It all sounds pretty simple but we're not getting the simple things right.
The players are good enough and they need to start showing it.
I'll be signing copies of my new book in the Mander Centre on Saturday (11am-3pm) and at Bridgnorth Christmas Fair on Sunday (11am-4pm).
