The 22-year-old Portuguese youth international moves to Molineux on a season-long deal and becomes the first new signing of the Fosun era.

The capture of Atletico Madrid full-back Silvio looks to be not far behind, with Wolves tying up loose ends on the deal.

The club said of Silvio: "Wolves are also close to concluding a deal with Atletico Madrid to bring in Portuguese international defender Silvio on a permanent deal.

"A deal is in place subject to Silvio formalising the terms of his departure with Atletico Madrid."

Meanwhile a permanent move for Benfica's defensive midfielder Pele remains in doubt as he is exploring other options, with Wolves saying a deal is "unlikely".

Wolves added: "As widely reported, Wolves have also held talks with the representatives of Benfica midfielder Pele.

"However, the player has other options to consider and he is unlikely to be joining the club."

Costa starred for Monaco on loan last season, helping the club to a third-placed finish and Champions League football, making 25 appearances and scoring three goals.

He had previously spent time on loan with Deportivo de La Coruna.

Costa said he was 'very happy' to join Wolves and had researched the club before agreeing the move.

"There are good conditions here and I am anxious to start work," he added.

"I think fans like to see wingers who are quick and attacking and I want to do that and help the team.

"It was good for me at Monaco where I played at a high level and played a lot of games and we had some success.

"I will now try and bring all that knowledge and experience to Wolves.

"Even though Wolves are in the Championship I know the league is top quality and how competitive football is in this country.

"I want to adapt to it and try and show my skills to help the team.

"I knew a bit about Wolves already and have looked up more information!

"They had some time in the Premier League not long ago and I want to help the club get back there again."
