Lee Evans has made mistakes, admits Kenny Jackett

Lee Evans has been excluded from the Wolves squad because of his on-pitch mistakes rather than social media, says Kenny Jackett.

The head coach scuppered any prospect of the 20-year-old leaving on loan – and won't ban players from Twitter.

Jackett hinted that the midfielder could end his four-match exile imminently following the row which saw him disciplined by the club.

Evans' brother Danny used social media to query his sibling's exclusion from the squad for last Saturday's 5-0 win against Rotherham. Evans also missed Tuesday's 3-0 victory over Fulham and played no part in the previous two games.

"Lee has an excellent range of passing and is very competitive," said Jackett. "But he needs to cut out the mistakes because he's given away too many goals and too many chances. But he's very close to returning because there's no doubting his ability."

On social media, Jackett said: "I haven't necessarily got hard and fast rules on banning players from Twitter.

"But they have to realise their responsibilities, their position within the club and the club's position in the community. Everything he does is scrutinised. If someone steps out of line, someone will pick it up, albeit it was his brother."

Danny Evans had posted: "Why didn't you let him go on loan to Watford or any other club that enquired if you do not give him game time?" But Jackett said: "We certainly wouldn't be loaning players to competitors."

Meanwhile, winger Eusebio Bancessi is set to go out on loan to a lower division club after a hamstring injury.
