Wolves boss Terry Connor today revealed captain Roger Johnson is ready to return to the team.

Ronald Zubar's one-match ban for his sending off against Manchester United means Johnson could be recalled at Norwich on Saturday for what would be the skipper's first game since being fined for turning up to train feeling the effects of alcohol, 16 days ago.

"He's been there every session, working hard, and is ready to go," said Connor.

"There's a first time for everything if it's the first time (I play him)."

Connor revealed Johnson had been giving him earache to try to win a recall.

"He wants to play, he wants to compete, he wants to win and he reminds me of that.

"He lets me know he's available, and that's fine, I've no problem with that whatsoever.

"His chances of playing are the same as last week and the week before."

Johnson's wife Melissa criticised his omission when she tweeted before the United game: "Trying to understand why my hubbys on the bench now #ridiculous".

But Connor said he wouldn't be swayed by opinions. "That (tweet) has no bearing on me and what I do at all," said Connor. "I wasn't aware of it.

"We all know what happened the other week but that was dealt with and Roger has trained really well. He hasn't been a minute's problem to me since."

Meanwhile, Connor insisted the survival scrap hasn't become a four-horse race despite Blackburn climbing six points clear of the drop zone after beating Sunderland 2-0 last night.

"Even though Blackburn won last night, in two weeks' time, that gap might be down to two points, and everyone would be saying they've been dragged back into it," he said.

"I try very hard not to worry about other teams' results because ours are the only ones I can try to effect, unless we're playing that other team."

"So even after losing 5-0 at home to Manchester United, we're still only a point from getting outside that bottom three."
