Wolves players 'hurting' following late Arsenal defeat
Rob Edwards admits his Wolves players are hurting and felt his side deserved more in their late loss at Arsenal.
Wolves pushed the Gunners all the way and thought they had snatched an equaliser with Tolu Arokodare's 90th minute header.
But a Yerson Mosquera own goal four minutes later - which came after Sam Johnstone's own goal initially gave Arsenal the lead - broke Wolves hearts and Edwards said the players were devastated.
He said: "It was bad luck, but they earned it. That's why they are where they are, they're a brilliant team.
"I'm not going to complain about luck. I'm proud of the lads tonight, but obviously it hurts that we lost the game.
"It's tough when you're losing games, but performances can help.
"We saw a really committed performance. We're struggling at the moment for results, but we're not searching all the time for performances.
"To come here, to arguably the best team in Europe at the moment, we're not going to be able to open up.
"We had to take more risks on Monday night. We opened up and Manchester United did what they did in the second half, we weren't able to do that here.
"So we saw a team that were focused, they followed the game plan, they stuck together, showed a spirit, took the moment when it came and almost delivered a perfect game in terms of what we can deliver at the moment. So that keeps people together.
"Once we're 1-0 down, clearly then we've got to play with a little bit more risk. We made some changes, both personnel and tactically as well, and changed the shape.
"It was almost perfect. We found a way at the right moment, we thought it was the right moment, to get that equaliser."
Edwards has now lost all five of his matches since being appointed head coach, but has enjoyed better performances in their two away games at Villa and Arsenal that deserved a result.
Wolves have found it tough at home amid fans' frustration and poor performances, with the team on a long losing run that has now extended to nine Premier League games.
Edwards has praised the two 'brilliant' away performances and feels his side can take positives from their performances ahead of Brentford's visit to Molineux in the last game before Christmas.
"We went to Villa a couple of weeks ago and were similar," Edwards said.
"We were good. I would say brilliant, in terms of following the plan, in these away performances. We've been a little bit more mixed at home.
"There's certainly things to take. There's a lot of positives there, but it's another loss and that's what hurts.
"The dressing room was flat because of the nature of it and how it happened.
"In the cold light of day and when the emotion goes, we'll be able to take a lot from it, there's no doubt about it. I don't see a group of men that have given up. We've got to keep going."
