Under-pressure West Brom boss Alan Pardew: I've got one and a half bags packed
Under-fire Baggies boss Alan Pardew has summed up his own perilous position ahead of today’s crucial match with Huddersfield by admitting he’s got a bag and a half packed in case he gets sacked.
Pardew is under mounting pressure after off-field controversies on a warm weather training camp in Spain and one win in his 13 league games.

Although he’s eager to stay at the club, he hasn’t sought any assurances from returning chief executive Mark Jenkins this week.
And after 20 years in management, he’s aware that he could be fired just three months into his tenure should results fail to improve.
“(Chelsea manager) Antonio Conte summed it up this week by saying you've always got a bag packed,” said Pardew. “I've got a bag-and-a-half packed.
“If you're asking me how I feel, I'm disappointed and of course I'm angry with what's happened this last week, but I'm also determined and I don't want to leave the football club.
“I want to give it the best possible go I can. The spotlight does fall heavily on the manager, as Jose Mourinho has found out this week like myself, and we're probably both hoping it's somebody else's turn next week.”
Jenkins returned to the club last week after chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman – the men who appointed Pardew – were sacked by owner Guochuan Lai.
When Pardew was asked if he had spoken to his new boss about his position, he said: “No, I haven't looked no further than this week.
“I've spoken to Mark on a few occasions, purely about this week. We've had enough going on to occupy us.
“He's just getting his feet under the table and I think he's got a lot on his plate in terms of the administration and the running of the club and the organisation of it.
“My job is to manage the football team – he's made that very clear for me to carry on and do that.”
Pardew has had an instant impact at several of his previous clubs, but there has been a severe lack of ‘new manager bounce’ at the Baggies so far.
Out of the eight Premier League clubs who have changed their manager this season, Pardew is the only one who hasn’t improved on his predecessor’s points-per-game ratio.
“I’m disappointed that it hasn’t happened and disappointed for the people that employed me,” he said. “I’ve got 11 games to hopefully put that right.
“It’s not for the want of trying. I’ve gone into my records and used most of my repertoire but I’ve still got a few things to go.”
