Tony Pulis hopes for more Albion funds

Boss Tony Pulis is going to try and convince chairman Jeremy Peace to take a risk if West Brom don't sell any players this month.

Peace has taken Pulis out for dinner to thrash out the club's transfer plans.

But, after spending £32.5million in the summer, the owner doesn't want to stump up any more cash this month.

Pulis, however, thinks the squad desperately needs freshening up, with clubs around the Baggies starting to splash the cash.

He said: "If we generate money we will look at doing some stuff, I think that was made pretty clear.

"If we don't I will really have to try and convince him bringing someone else in is worth taking that risk."

It's going to be hard to talk around someone notoriously stubborn when it comes to transfers.

Pulis said: "Jeremy has a reputation, especially in the windows, of being very much his own man.

"I don't think that is going to change. If he thinks it is right for the football club he will do it, if he doesn't think it is right for the club I don't think he will do things."

Bournemouth have bought two strikers, spending £10m on Benik Afobe and £7m on Lewis Grabban, while Newcastle have agreed a £12m fee with Swansea for Jonjo Shelvey.

Pulis said: "The clubs in the bottom 10 will spend more this window than what they have ever done before. I am absolutely convinced, because the stakes are so high.

"Bournemouth have started it and you will see Sunderland, Newcastle, Norwich, teams like that will spend big. I don't think there is any doubt in my mind it will be as big as clubs have ever invested.

"The most important thing is concentrating on your own football club. Whatever you have got, make the most of it, I think I have always managed to do that."
