Team news: Five West Brom changes as QPR visit for seventh game in 21 days
Albion have named a new-look side for Saturday lunchtime’s clash with QPR.
Albion have confirmed five changes in the starting XI at home to QPR on Saturday lunchtime - including a ‘second’ debut for Toby Collyer.
Collyer, the £3million summer recruit from Manchester United, is one of a handful of alterations to the side that heroically saw off Derby with 10 men on Wednesday night. The former loanee is yet to play a minute since his permanent move.
Just over 60 hours separates the Pride Park clash and Saturday’s early start against the Rs, with boss James Morrison shuffling his pack accordingly.
Missing out of the starting line-up are key men Ousmane Diakite and top scorer Jimmy-Jay Morgan, as well as captain George Campbell.
Joining Collyer in the side are Chris Mepham, Conor Townsend, Felix Horn Myhre and Rabby Nzingoula.
Albion head into the clash with a conundrum at right-back with Nolan Galves (knee) injured and Brayann Pereira suspended. Morison has opted for left-back Callum Styles to shuffle to the right, as he finished in Derby in midweek.
Townsend will deputise at left-back.
Mepham is back in at centre-back and is skipper, with Campbell handed a breather. Horn Myhre has been selected on the right in preference to Harry Whitwell and the lively Nzingoula is an attacking role in support of striker Aune Heggebo - with top scorer Morgan in reserve.
It is a fascinating line-up from high-flying and in-form Albion, who lost Championship top spot after West Ham’s 6-0 rout of Wrexham on Friday night.
It also points to a seventh match in 21 days at the end of a relentless schedule. QPR also head into The Hawthorns clash with a number of injury absentees.
Youngsters Alfie Maughan, a full-back, and midfielder Matty Crowther are the teen duo included on the bench due to absentees.
Albion (4-4-1-1): O’Leary; Styles, Phillips, Mepham (c), Townsend; Horn Myhre, Molumby, Collyer, Price; Nzingoula; Heggebo.
Substitutes: Ingram (gk), Campbell, Maughan, Crowther, Diakite, Whitwell, Tunde, Stewart, Morgan.
