James MorrisonAlbion midfielder James Morrison will miss Scotland's trip to Iceland through injury – but could still be fit to face West Ham on Saturday.

Morrison could line up against a Hammers side under new management, with Italian Gianfranco Zola due for talks today about taking over at Upton Park.

The Scotland midfielder is heading back to Albion instead of heading to Reykjavik, after failing to shake off the knee injury that ruled him out of Saturday's defeat to Macedonia.

Baggies first team coach Peter Grant, himself a former Scotland international, believes the 22-year-old could still recover before the weekend.

Grant said: "Morrison has been struggling since jarring his knee in Albion's goalless draw at Bolton on Saturday.

"James is coming back to the club today. He trained with Scotland yesterday but George didn't want to risk him.

"I'm obviously disappointed for James and, on a personal note, Scotland. The fact he was able to train yesterday is a big plus for us and we're hopeful he will be okay for the weekend.

"He's been outstanding for us so far."
