'I was feeling it' - West Brom boss James Morrison opens up on back-to-back defeats

It was the first time James Morrison had lost consecutive league fixtures while in charge of the Baggies.

James Morrison admitted he was feeling the pressure of Albion’s back-to-back defeats to rivals earlier in the season.

Reverses to rivals Wolves and Birmingham City either side of the international break earlier in the season had the Baggies head coach under the cosh, he confessed.

The Baggies were staring down the barrel of a third successive Championship defeat when behind midway through the second half at north Wales, but Albion rallied in style to win and have not lost since. Morrison’s men are looking to go six unbeaten prior to this international break with the visit of Millwall on Saturday.

"I said after the last international break how important this block of games is to get (where we want to be),” Morrison said.

"This block has been really tough. We regrouped after Blues. We had 14 points in the last block, so it's really important we get to that again (currently on 11).

"It's pleasing and again there are fine margins. Blues, how well they're doing now, we were in that game.

"The back-to-back defeats - on my behalf when we were going to Wrexham I was feeling it.

"But again, through victories and getting success with what we're trying to do, we built on that. The lads got the rewards through their hard work of going until the end.”

Morrison added of recent praise from supporters: "They have been very complimentary. But in football - it's just in me to keep working, keep on at players and staff. It's only 14 games.

"I don't always look at the table but it's so tight, with how the Championship is, we've just got to keep working and not get ahead of ourselves."
