Steve Bull: My plan for getting the best from Wolves hotshot Sean Neave
Steve Bull’s latest Express & Star column is in after the stunning late show to come from behind and win at Bristol City.
What a night it was for Wolves down at Ashton Gate in midweek - and for young loan striker Sean Neave in particular.
Absolutely fair play to him. It was not going Wolves’ way and Bristol City scored a great goal, one you just have to stand and applaud.
Cesar Peixoto’s changes worked a treat. We have kept going in some games and ground teams down. The changes perked our team up a bit and then Neave made the difference in front of goal.
He was in the right place at the right time for his double and it became a brilliant night for Wolves and those away supporters.
That is all Neave can do when he gets his chances in a bid to keep winning over Wolves fans.
He’s only a young lad, just 19, playing his first regular senior football here from Newcastle. He’s very raw and has a lot of work to do.
But he looks like someone who will run his socks off and with Raul Jimenez out injured he should get his opportunities.
There will be some calls to hand him a start but I would keep using him from the bench to build him up - give him 20, 30 or 40 minutes if needed. I’d be putting him to give the lad the chance to build up that experience and become ready to be that regular number nine.
Then, eventually, he will be ready and absolutely match-fit to go and get us all of those goals.

I’m pleased for Sean. Those first loans are not easy but he has adjusted well. All the fans down in Bristol were made up for him. But I always say one game does not make a player and he has to learn from it now.
Cesar has got to keep dipping him in and out to help him become ready to maybe really push Raul and Adam Armstrong.
Generally we are lacking that natural number nine goalscorer-type with Raul out injured. The service seems to be there in this team. We have lots of players who seem to be able to play in those more deeper or wide roles.
It is frustrating when I watch it sometimes. I think ‘just get somebody up there!’
Mind you, if I was playing in this day and age I wouldn’t be on the field because of VAR and all of those things we used to get away with. We’d get away with murder out there.
As we head into another international break I can’t help but feel it is a strange Championship season so far this term.
Everybody is beating everybody. You don’t know who is going to turn up or what is happening.
I think we are in a great position and it feels like we have not really found our feet yet.
I’m confident that in a few more weeks after the action resumes, when Peixoto starts to find his main team, we’ll start to cement our position in the table and create a gap down to the top eight.
