'I like to get forward' - Nolan Galves outlines style after sealing West Brom transfer
The attack-minded French right-back has checked in as Albion’s sixth new recruit of the summer.
Nolan Galves has vowed to get on the front foot and be switched on at the back after sealing his transfer to Albion.
The right-back checked in as head coach James Morrison’s sixth new recruit of the summer on Tuesday lunchtime.
Galves, who turned 23 last week, penned a four-year contract at The Hawthorns after the move for an undisclosed fee. His former club, French second-tier outfit Rodez, reportedly set an £850,000 asking price earlier in the summer for the in-demand Galves.
The full-back arrives with a reputation of raiding the right flank in support of attack - but Galves knows the demands of the Championship will require him to be fully switched on in his own defensive third.
“I’m excited to be starting a new challenge here in England,” Galves said.

“West Bromwich Albion is a very historic football club and I am proud to be part of this project.
“I am an attacking full-back and like to get forward, but I also enjoy the defensive side of the game - which I know will be important in a demanding league like the Championship.
“It’s great to be here and I’m looking forward to seeing the supporters in our stadium soon.”
Galves’ addition goes some way to solving Morrison’s right-back conundrum this summer after former loan star Danny Imray was targeted, but the Crystal Palace man instead opted to join Wrexham, with a hefty £5million set to be completed.
Frenchman Galves moved to Rodez in 2024 from his hometown club Sochaux.
He stepped up from third tier to Ligue 2 and led unfancied Rodez to an eye-catching fifth-placed finish and play-off spot last term, laying on eight assists from the right side along the way.
Galves was predominantly a wing-back in Rodez back five formation. He could feature at Peterborough in Saturday’s final pre-season friendly after training for the first time on Tuesday.
Morrison’s current other right-back options are academy prospect Alex Williams, who has impressed in pre-season, and Alfie Gilchrist, who was on the fringes in his debut campaign last term.
