Albion man hungry for success

Out of favour Albion striker John Hartson says he's 'hungry for success' at Norwich City.

Out of favour Albion striker John Hartson says he's 'hungry for success' at Norwich City.

Hartson has joined the Canaries on an initial month's loan, with a view to the deal being extended until January, after slipping way down the pecking order at The Hawthorns.

The 32-year-old hasn't made a senior first team appearance for the Baggies since February and said he jumped at the chance of moving to Carrow Road.

Hartson, who is expected to make his debut in Saturday's clash with Bristol City, will be charged with ending Norwich's goal drought which stretches back to David Strihavka's winner against Crystal Palace last month.

"Obviously I'm short of games," said Hartson.

"I've played against Stoke reserves and Leicester reserves and had a couple of outings. But I'm experienced and know what's ahead. I'm under no illusions. I'm not 25 any more.

"I'm ready for it and hungry for success. I've played a couple of reserve games and have felt a lot sharper than I did six months ago with a full pre-season behind me.

"I just felt this was a chance to go and play football again."

Norwich are currently in the Championship's relegation zone following a poor start to the season which cost boss Peter Grant his job.

But Hartson believes it's nothing a few goals and a couple of victories won't be able to rectify.

"It's not all doom and gloom," added the former Wales international.

"We are only nine points off third position and a few wins and there'll be a bit more of a bubble about the place."
