West Brom defender Kane Wilson signs new contract
Teenage right-back Kane Wilson has signed a new contract with West Brom, extending his stay at The Hawthorns until the summer of 2020.
Wilson, who penned his first professional deal last year, has been out on loan at League Two Exeter City this season, scoring one goal in 16 appearances.
And the 18-year-old wants to toast his new Albion contract by going on to win promotion with the Grecians.
“It’s always been a goal of mine to keep extending my contract here,” said Wilson. “It’s something I have had my eye on since I joined Exeter on loan at the start of the season.
“I want to keep working hard and hopefully keep impressing the right people at West Bromwich Albion.
“My loan experience has been really beneficial for me both on and off the pitch.
“I’ve moved away from home and that has helped me mature as a person.
“I feel as though I am now comfortable playing senior football in a senior environment.
“My target now is to keep working hard at Exeter and help them get promoted to League One.
“To win promotion during my first loan away from the club would be absolutely incredible and a brilliant way to kick-off off my career.”
As well as his one goal, Wilson has also received two red cards while on loan at Exeter last
season.
He made his solitary Baggies appearance in last season’s EFL Cup – a penalty shootout defeat at Northampton Town.
