Jake Livermore was sent off as West Brom's final pre-season fixture ended in a 2-0 defeat at Deportivo La Coruna.
Goals from Bruno Gama and Borja Valle sealed the win for Spaniards in the second-half.
But the major talking point of the game happened just before the break.
Livermore, who captained the side after Jonny Evans was a late scratch, received a red card for lashing out at Fabian Schar
Referee Alfonso Alvarez Izquierdo showed the England international his second yellow after being booked earlier in the half.
James McClean’s strike from the edge of the penalty area was Albion's best chance of the game, but Tony Pulis' men were second best for large parts of the game.
