The 33-year-old put the finishing touch on an excellent move just past the hour mark.

Chris Porter had earlier put the Blades ahead when he collected Stephen McGinn's low cross and fired into the top corner.

But the Saddlers levelled through a Craig Westcarr penalty before Chambers went on to win it.

It capped a remarkable turnaround which looked unlikely in the first half as the Blades took the lead and seemingly had the game in control.

But referee Lee Collins' decision to award a spot-kick when Harry Maguire pushed Andy Butler changed it and the Saddlers took full advantage. They ran out deserved winners and for the first time this season recorded victory after conceding first.

Dean Smith sprang something of a surprise in his team selection as Troy Hewitt was handed his first start up front for almost three months in place of Westcarr.

James Chambers also replaced Ben Purkiss at right-back with fit again Milan Lalkovic coming in for Ashley Hemmings.

Hewitt was quickly into the action as he saw a shot blocked after latching on to a James Chambers through ball. The striker then won a free-kick which visiting keeper George Long had to punch away Andy Taylor's delivery. James Baxendale put a left-footed volley wide, while at the other end Chris Porter headed Jose Baxter's corner wide of the near post.

It was an entertaining opening and the visitors might have taken the lead sooner had Porter been able to locate the ball six yards out after Tony McMahon's cross wasn't cleared.

But he had no problem finding it on 17 minutes when he scored the opener, controlling McGinn's low cross before shooting into the top corner from ten yards out.

Andy Butler headed a corner wide as the Saddlers looked for a response but while the hosts saw plenty of the ball, they created little in the way of chances.

It was little surprise to see Westcarr introduced at the start of the second half to replace the ineffective Baxendale.

The Saddlers created an early chance when James Chambers beat his man and raced into the box but bizarrely opted to cross rather than shoot.

And seven minutes into the half they were level, thanks to a helping hand from referee Collins, as he adjudged Maguire to have fouled Butler. Westcarr stepped up to send Long the wrong way and level things up.

Just past the hour mark the turnaround was complete. A lovely passing move between Sawyers and Mantom ended with the latter feeding Chambers and he fired under Long from close range.

Butler was then sharp at the other end to deny Baxter a shooting opportunity, while Hewitt just failed to connect with a Sawyers cross as the Saddlers looked to move further ahead.

The Blades were far less effective than they had been in the first half but went close when substitute Shaun Miller drilled a shot just wide of the far post.

Substiute Julian Gray should have sealed it for the Saddlers but fired wide from six yards out while Long denied Lalkovic.

The keeper was then a spectator as Andy Taylor drilled a low piledriver inches wide of the far post.
