Walsall FC complete Febian Brandy signing
Walsall FC have completed the signing of former Manchester United striker Febian Brandy.
Walsall FC have completed the signing of former Manchester United striker Febian Brandy.
The 23-year-old has impressed in training and in this week's pre-season friendly at AFC Telford, persuading manager Dean Smith to add another name to the squad being rapidly re-shaped this summer.
For Brandy, it offers him the chance to prove what United believed since he was a nine-year-old and end a nomadic tour of the Football League and beyond.
Although the Manchester-born striker came through the ranks to become a regular for United's reserves, that was as good as it got.
Brandy began a series of loans to clubs including Swansea, Hereford and then Gillingham, before he was released from Old Trafford in the summer of 2010.
Walsall boss Dean Smith said: "Febian is a player that we have looked closely at over the past few weeks.
"He has impressed us with his ability and attitude and we are delighted to be able to add him to the squad.
"He's a lively player with good pace and undoubted talent who has unfulfilled potential, which we hope he will be able to fulfill here."
It gives the Walsall manager 18 new recruits in yet another summer of change at the Banks's Stadium.
