Jon Macken praises Walsall youngsters

Jon Macken today insisted Walsall have learnt from their mistakes after another season of struggle.

The Saddlers eight-goal top scorer reckons the club's young guns will be stronger following their League One trials. They were closing in on survival ahead of this afternoon's visit of Tranmere and Macken believes the season has been an education.

"As a team we're learning all of the time," he said.

"Our record since Christmas speaks for itself with just five defeats in 21 games since Boxing Day."
