David Grof today admitted Walsall must forget their frustration if they want to dispatch Colchester.

The goalkeeper wants an end to the hard luck stories ahead of tonight's key visit of the play-off chasing U's.

The Saddlers will escape the League One relegation zone with a draw following a frustrating two-point haul from the last three games.

And Grof insisted they must put their disappointment of the last few weeks behind them.

"It's annoying because in the last eight or nine games we've upped our game and we've been so much better than earlier in the season," he said, with Walsall a point from the safety line. "The other teams near the bottom have also been doing well so it's hard we're still in the bottom four.

"If we keep putting shifts like Saturday (a 1-1 draw with Stevenage) in and with a bit more quality in the final third we'll be fine at the end of the season.

"We can't think about Saturday now, we have to concentrate on tonight because it's another massive game for us and we have to get three points.

"We came into the two games thinking we needed to get six points which isn't going to happen now. It was still a decent point, Stevenage were a bad team to play against because they didn't really try to play football. It was a good point – as long as we get three points tonight."

But the 22-year-old revealed his disappointment at failing to keep a clean sheet against Stevenage. He was beaten by Michael Bostwick's second-half stunner and felt it was hard on Walsall's luckless defence.

"When it dropped I knew he was going to hit it but I had two or three players in front of me so I didn't really see it until the last minute," he said. "I made an effort but he hit the ball really well. It's frustrating because in the last few games teams have either scored scrappy goals or wonder goals and there's not much I can do."
