Jon Macken today insisted Walsall are finally reaping the rewards for sticking to their principles.

The seven-goal striker reckons the Saddlers have cashed in after their six-game unbeaten run pushed them out of the League One drop zone.

They go to in-form Yeovil, who have won five of their last seven games, tomorrow three points above the bottom four and Macken said their values are paying off.

"It's been pleasing, it's been hard work because over the Christmas period it was a little doom and gloom and people hovering around trying to suck us into it," he said.

"But we believed in what we were doing and trying to gain. It was a total belief in what we wanted to achieve and how we set ourselves out in games. We've done that and we're getting our rewards.

"We're confident and we're going into every game believing we can beat any team and not concede goals. I'd be quite happy with a 1-0 win there but a draw would be a good result with the run they are on at the moment."

The Glovers have pulled clear of the immediate survival scrap to sit 13th – six points ahead of the 20th placed Saddlers.

But Macken insisted Dean Smith's men go to Huish Park confident despite Yeovil being second in the form table.

"They've got a tremendous record at the moment," said the 34-year-old. "You've got to go into it knowing it's going to be a very tough afternoon but our form has been tremendous too.

"Our will to win and will to get back into games is second to none. We go into every game believing we can win anyway. You've see some of the performances against the top teams, or so called ones, this year. We've just got to keep the consistency, that's the main thing in football, especially in this division. If you get that right then you'll be OK."
