Boss Dean Smith today backed his young guns to help Walsall avoid the drop.
The Walsall chief has been impressed with his starlets after they forced their way into his team.
Jamie Paterson has become a key player, while George Bowerman and Will Grigg have been involved.
And, ahead of Tuesday's trip to Oldham, Smith is delighted with their impact.
"I'm very encouraged by the way the younger members of the squad have improved and gelled with the more experienced players," he said, with today's visit of Colchester postponed due to a frozen pitch.
"It's pleasing for the club and good for the future, but we have to concentrate on the now and getting points on the board."
