Oliver Lancashire today warned Dagenham they face no mercy from Walsall in their FA Cup showdown. The Saddlers go to east London tomorrow bidding to reach the third round for the first time since 2008.
Dagenham were relegated by a point, instead of Walsall, on a thrilling final day last season after they lost 5-0 to Peterborough and the Saddlers went down 3-1 at Southampton.
Now the Daggers are second-bottom of League Two, only propped up by crisis club Plymouth, and defender Lancashire insisted the Saddlers will add to their misery.
"I'd much rather be in our shoes rather than where they are because they are struggling in League Two," he said.
"It's a one-off game and if they want to get revenge on us then so be it but we're going there to get into the third round.
"Hopefully we'll have a few away fans and it's always nice playing away with them because they are the die-hards. Hopefully they'll come to Dagenham and help us do the business.
"We've got to do it for ourselves, the fans and the club. It's a hard season and we have to push on after the last couple of results."
And Richard Taundry insisted the Saddlers must use the carrot of a glamour third-round tie as inspiration. They lost 2-1 to Millwall in a replay the last time they reached that stage in 2008 and Taundry said they can't blow their latest chance.
He said: "It's a massive opportunity for us to get into the third round so we're very excited. We've got a positive attitude to take into the game. But we've seen other teams get upset and it could be another one so we've got to be careful."
