After the success of last season's 'Training Equipment Challenge' the Express & Star and Walsall Football Club are joining forces again to raise money for the Saddlers' Youth Development Fund.

Last season, the E & S donated 10p from every sale of the newspaper at the Banks's Stadium on matchdays, raising £750 for the 'Training Equipment Challenge.'

The money was used to purchase training equipment including mannequins, cones and bibs.

This season, the challenge is is to once again raise enough money to purchase training geat for the Centre of Excellence.

Walsall head of youth Neil Woods said: "It's a fantastic gesture from the paper. It enables us to strengthen the system that we already have.

"We know it's not cheap to buy equipment these days and to have this donation is great."

Kevin Edwards, head of sales development for the E & S said: "We're really proud of what our readers achieved last season in making such a positive contribution towards the development of these future Saddlers stars.

"We're delighted to be furthering our association with the youth development fund and hope that we continue our success of last term."

Copies of the E & S will be on sale at all home games throughout the season.
