Adam Chambers' trophy tie warning
Walsall midfielder Adam Chambers today warned the Saddlers not to underestimate Shrewsbury if they want to avoid being the Shrews' next cup scalp.
Walsall midfielder Adam Chambers today warned the Saddlers not to underestimate Shrewsbury if they want to avoid being the Shrews' next cup scalp.
Chambers and Co host Shrewsbury in tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round clash, a week after their visitors shocked Premier League club Swansea.
Graham Turner's men beat the Swans 3-1 in the Carling Cup second round at Greenhous Meadow.
But, despite being a division higher than their League Two visitors, Chambers insisted the Saddlers cannot class themselves as favourites.
He said: "If you go into the game thinking you've won it you've got no chance. We will go into the game with the same attitude as if we're playing a team from the Championship or higher.
"That's the best way to go into games and it's the best way to win this game.
"I'm not sure about the side Swansea put out but it shows Shrewsbury have got a bit about them, even if they are beating a second string Swansea team. They will be a decent side.
"But it's a good opportunity for us, cup competitions are always difficult and it's a one-off game but we can perform well.
"If we do that we should be OK and go through to the next round."
