Veteran goalkeeper Jimmy Walker today penned a new one-year contract with Walsall and hinted he could stay beyond next season.
The 37-year-old is also now set to break Colin Harrison's record of 530 appearances, as he stands on 505 outings for the Saddlers.
Walker rejoined the club in October, six years after originally leaving for West Ham, to help them beat the League One drop.
The fans favourite put thoughts of retirement on hold to save Walsall from relegation and hasn't ruled out playing beyond his new deal.
He said: "If it is to be my last season, it will be nice to finish things here but who knows. I'm not saying it is my last as you never know but it was something I wanted to do.
"I'm not getting any younger and it's one thing I wanted to do, so I'm happy. I'm looking forward to the new season now it's all sorted and hopefully we'll be at the right end of the table, where we want to be.
"It was a difficult season but we're ready for the hard work and, hopefully, we can carry on from the success at the end of last year.
"I've had a fantastic time at the club, I get on well with all the fans and I've got some great friends here. It's a great club to be at, I just want to do well for the club and always have done.
"I think the last time I left we had just been relegated and that's probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do in football, so that wasn't a nice thing to do."
Walker joins captain Andy Butler in signing a new deal at the Banks's Stadium while the club have already extended the contracts of Jon Macken, Will Grigg and Oliver Lancashire.
