Walsall boss Dean Smith today revealed he is still looking for more new signings to bolster his side's League One survival bid.

The Saddlers manager is still combing the loan market for players who can improve his team's chances of pulling of their 'great escape'.

Smith already has Matt Gill on loan from Norwich and snapped up free agent Tom Williams last week.

But he said: "We are still looking all the time. There are no specific positions — we are just looking in general to see who is out there and what is in the market to possibly bring people in to better our squad.

"I have agents telephoning me regularly and throwing players' names at me all the time."

A run of just one defeat in six games has given Smith's side a chance of escaping the drop just weeks after they appeared to be doomed.

But the boss, who took over following the sacking of Chris Hutchings, is refusing to set his side any targets for their remaining 15 games of the season.

"I am taking it game by game," said Smith. "We have 15 games left starting with Colchester away on Saturday.

"People were saying before we won on Tuesday that it was a massive game for us against Dagenham, but it was only a massive game because it was out next game.

"The next massive game is Colchester. Whether it is Dagenham, Southampton or Colchester it doesn't matter, they are just games in our league that we have to try to win.

"They are all tough games but I still think we are capable of beating anyone in the league.

"I have said that before and the lads are starting to believe it now.

"There was 10 points that covered the whole of the bottom half of the table before the game on Tuesday and that win puts us another step closer.

"We have gone above Dagenham now and we need to start moving above other teams.

"All I can concentrate on us our performances. If we keep performing, we will keep getting results and with those results you start climbing the league table."There are going to be teams that have bad runs and it is our job to catch them and go over them."
