Will Grigg today ordered Walsall to treat every game like "life or death" if they want to survive.

The striker is set to lead the line at Charlton on Sunday and insisted the Saddlers must start realising the gravity of their situation.

They go to Charlton on Sunday rock bottom of League One and seven points from safety – but could be further behind depending on results tomorrow.

And Grigg, who is set for just his second senior start, knows every game is vital if the club want to avoid relegation to League Two.

"We've got to go into every game like it's life or death," he said.

"We're at the bottom of the league and a few points adrift so we need to get as many wins as possible.

"It seems when you're down there things go against you. We're getting no luck in front of goal but teams against us are getting the luck. Nothing is falling for us at the moment.

"We can't go on like that. We've got to keep working hard, and keep going."

The 19-year-old now wants to cement himself into the starting XI after waiting almost two years since his debut for his first start at Torquay two weeks ago.

"I've been getting a few chances when I've come on, so maybe I need a little bit of luck," he said.

"I've been sub for quite a few years now and for the youth team so it's been my aim to start a game and it was definitely a proud moment.

"I've done well coming off the bench this season and obviously the gaffer has noticed so I just need to start doing that from the start now."
