James, 26, had been a constant figure in Tamworth's successful side last season, which included two impressive victories against the Pitmen.

And now the left-back is hoping to push even further with the Pitmen.

He said: "I was disappointed to hear that Tamworth didn't want to tie me down.

"For the first season of my career I had a top, consistent season, playing 36 games and making the position my own.

"But it's earned me my Hednesford move, as soon as I knew of their interest it was at the top of my list.

"I remember Keys Park and the supporters last season, I remember thinking how nice the ground was, and the fans sang all game.

"That's important to me, but I've also been looking at the personnel Rob's getting in, we're putting a squad together to fight in what will be a really tough league.

"I've come to fight for promotion, we want to aim for the play-offs at least, this club is used to that.

"But this division is even tougher than last year, with about 10 clubs really going for those promotion spots, with clubs throwing a lot of money at it."

The former Nuneaton man has enjoyed other big moves in his career, he signed from non-league to Sean Dyche's Watford as a youngster.

"I had a fantastic time with some very vivid memories of Sean, it was a great experience down there, making my debut in the FA Cup 4th round was amazing." He said.

Adams, 30, plays in midfield and is re-united with Smith after their time at Telford.
