Romulus 2 Tividale 0
Tividale failed to register anything in the points department in another Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South game.
They never did enough to threaten the home side in a 2-0 defeat at home to Romulus, with Phil Male in sole charge of the visitors for the first time.
The first-half was dour and possibly a hangover from the Christmas festivities.
The only chances of note being a deflected shot from Romulus forward Luke Keen that came back off the crossbar.
There were a couple of openings late on for Tividale's Mark Danks, who first saw Roms goalkeeper Stuart Parsons save with his legs, then fired another effort wide.
Romulus stepped up the pressure at the start of the second half and Tividale goalkeeper Tom Turner did well to palm a Keen effort around the post on 59 minutes.
From the resulting corner, a free header from Cameron Lee thundered against the bar.
Two minutes later Keen was through again, but again he could only watch his shot come back off the bar.
The deadlock was broken on 64 minutes when what looked like a simple pass into the midfield was completely messed up by the visitors.
Romulus striker Joel Grandison could not believe his luck when the ball was presented to him five yards outside the area to round a stranded Turner and slot it into an empty net.
On 72 minutes, the home side doubled their lead in rather fortuitous fashion when defender Louis Ezewele worked his way into the box.
His low cross came off Tividale skipper Jason Chilton's ankle and a completely wrong-footed Turner could only watch the ball roll into his net.
Grandison nearly made it three at the death, with a great curling lob that just went wide of Turner's far post.
