Tividale 0 Gresley 2
Tividale made most of the running but fell to a 2-0 home defeat against 10-man Gresley in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South.
Tividale started the better and debutant Mark Danks twice brought saves from goalkeeper Liam Roberts in the first two minutes.
On 32 minutes Tividale had a great chance to take the lead when the lively Danks robbed Gresley defender Jake Carlisle and was brought down in the area by Roberts.
The goalkeeper was dismissed and a penalty awarded. With no substitute shot-stopper on the bench, Gresley midfielder Jack Langston donned the gloves.
His first job was to watch Danks's spot-kick hit the base of the post. Gresley went ahead a minute before the break, though.
Jordan Ball's cross was deflected into the path of Martin Smythe for a first-time finish from the edge of the area.
The second came on 55 minutes when Gresley's John Guy was brought down by Lewis Wright and Alex Steadman sent goalkeeper Chris Jay the wrong way from the spot.
