Heartbreak on long away trip
Kidderminster Harriers made the long trek to Kent to face Dover Athletic and suffered their first defeat of the season.
They fought back from 2-0 down at the interval, only to suffer heartbreak seven minutes from time as Dover ran out 3-2 winners in this National League Premier fixture.
Both sides struggled to find any flowing movement in a disjointed first half that saw the home side's Tom Murphy stretchered off after falling awkwardly in chasing a long ball forward.
Dover forced a corner five minutes before the break and from Nic Deverdics' delivery former Harriers defender Jamie Grimes rose highest to power home from eight yards.
The defender left in the summer and was installed as Dover captain – he may not have celebrated that goal, but he was on the stroke of half-time when Ricky Miller slid the ball home from a Ricky Modeste centre.
Harriers responded on the hour-mark when Adam Dawson curled a free-kick from 25 yards round the wall into Walker's bottom left-hand corner. What the visitors needed was an impact striker – step up Gurjit Singh. On the field for barely a minute, the former Tipton man marked his league debut with a wonderful left-footed finish to bring Harriers level.
The visitors looked the most likely to go on and win this fixture, but Stefan Payne had other ideas and his 83rd-minute near-post flick to Modeste's left-wing cross sent the home fans home delighted.
