Leon Bailey edges towards Hull switch as Aston Villa target Nicolas Jackson

Transfer latest from Aston Villa with Leon Bailey edging towards a Hull City switch.

Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey is edging closer to completing a move to Premier League rivals Hull City.

That is according to Sky Sports, who say Hull are close to agreeing a permanent deal for the 28-year-old Jamaica international.

Bailey has one year remaining on his Aston Villa contract and spent the first half of last season on loan at Roma before being recalled to Villa Park amid an injury crisis.

The winger was left out of Villa’s squad for their pre-season tour of Indonesia.

Newly promoted Hull are reportedly in the final stages of agreeing terms on a deal that would see Bailey sign a long-term contract.

Elsewhere, Villa are reportedly interested in doing further business with Chelsea this summer by pursuing a move for Nicolas Jackson.

The Midlands club are said to be in direct talks over a deal as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his attacking options following Morgan Rogers’ move to Stamford Bridge.

However, any move is not straightforward after Alejandro Garnacho joined Villa on loan, with an obligation to buy that will be triggered once certain conditions are met. That arrangement means Villa cannot sign another player on loan from Chelsea this summer.

Chelsea are reportedly valuing Jackson at up to £65 million. The Senegal international joined the Blues from Villarreal for around £32 million in 2023 before spending last season on loan at Bayern Munich, where he scored 11 goals in 33 appearances.
