Aston Villa boss Dean Smith targeting a derby double
Dean Smith has challenged Villa to quickly bounce back from defeat at Sheffield United by completing a derby double over Wolves tomorrow.
Villa host their Midlands rivals aiming for a victory to get their European push back on track following Wednesday’s disappointing defeat to the bottom of the table Blades.
Anwar El Ghazi’s stoppage-time penalty was enough to earn a 1-0 win at Molineux back in December and Villa can complete the season double over their neighbours for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign.
Smith said: “It will be really important (to see a response). We wanted a good week. It is a three-game week where you can pick up a lot of points if you put in the performances.
“Saturday was a really good performance and a good win at Leeds. On Wednesday we gave a really soft goal away and came away with nothing from a match where we should have taken a point at least.
“We have to bounce back now. It is a local derby and a chance to do the double over Wolves.”
