Aston Villa agree £20m fee for Emiliano Martinez
Villa are set to make their third signing of the transfer window after agreeing a £20million fee for Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
The 28-year-old is due to undergo a medical on Saturday evening ahead of signing a £60,000-a-week deal at Villa Park.
One-time Wolves loanee Martinez had looked certain to leave the Gunners after being left out of their squad for their Premier League opener at Fulham.
The Argentine had been in superb form during the final weeks of last season but wanted assurances over regular first-team football which Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was unable to give.
At Villa he is expected to be installed as No.1 for their Premier League opener against Sheffield United on September 20, with Tom Heaton still a month away from fitness following a serious knee injury.
