Reports over the weekend claimed the 25-year-old Egyptian international is a target for the Turkish club this summer.

But Trezeguet, who only joined Villa last summer in an £8.75million move from Kasimpasa last summer, has been quick to play down the possibility of a swift return to Turkey.

The former Anderlecht youngster signed a five-year deal at Villa Park and told the King Fut website: “I am committed to the contract.

“Playing in the Premier League was a dream for me, so I am completely focused on that step.”

Trezeguet was one of 12 players signed by Villa last summer when the club embarked on a much-publicised spending spree after winning promotion back to the Premier League.

Like many of the players recruited, he had no prior experience of English football and has struggled for consistency over the course of the season.

Nearly half of his 30 appearances have come off the bench, though he has managed to score four goals, including a dramatic last-gasp winner in Villa’s Carabao Cup semi-final with Leicester City.

Reports over the weekend claimed Trezeguet had been talked into a possible return to Turkey by his international team-mate Mohamed Elneny.

But instead he is determined to stay and fight for his place, even though at this stage it is far from clear when the Premier League will resume or what division Villa will be playing in next season.

Players are currently following individual fitness programmes after the club took the decision to cancel group training sessions during the coronavirus pandemic.
