Rudy Gestede can't wait for Brentford clash
Rudy Gestede reckons tomorrow night's game with Brentford is exactly what Villa need as they aim to give their misfiring Championship campaign some much needed momentum.
The striker admits the need to focus on the visit of the Bees means Roberto Di Matteo's men have had little time to reflect on the frustration of Sunday's 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.
Despite dominating, Villa were forced to settle for only a point in the Midlands derby, meaning they are already ten points behind early season pacesetters Huddersfield. The visit of Brentford, according to Gestede, offers an opportunity to start making up the deficit.
He said: "That is the good thing in the Championship. You don't have time to think too much about the game just past. You have to focus on the next one.
"It is a home game and I think it will be good for us to get a win.
"Forest is finished now. There is frustration but you have to leave it in the changing room and move forward.
"There are plenty of games to come and we know we have to do something now if we want to be at the top."
Di Matteo hopes to have Albert Adomah, Aaron Tshibola and Mile Jedinak available after the trio did not feature against Forest. Another decent-sized crowd is expected at Villa Park and Gestede, who netted his third goal of the season on Sunday, believes the support from fans has been a big positive to this point in the season.
"Even though the club is now in the Championship there are still a lot of fans," he said. "The atmosphere is changing. I think it wasn't easy because last season was the poorest I have ever known.
"The manager has brought in new staff and is making changes. He is pushing the same way.
"There are a lot of positives and commitment from everybody. Everybody is willing to move forward and that is in some ways the most important thing. I have confidence we will do better and start getting three points."
