The roof structure of the new marketplace is now in place - and contractor Speller Metcalfe remains on track to complete the works in June 2026, the council said.

More than £8 million is being invested in the redevelopment of Bilston Market which, once complete, will include enhanced stalls, upgraded toilets, a flexible events space and improved public areas and better access.

Bilston outdoor market trader Julie Emery of JD Produce, a fruit and veg business, said: “The new outdoor market is looking very smart and I am very excited to be moving back to a new contemporary workplace.

“It has been a very tough winter for the traders with all the bad weather and the constant rain but we are hoping that, when we return to our new market, the customers and the traders will be protected from the weather and it will make shopping at the market a better experience.

“Bilston is a great little town and I am so pleased the council have invested in the market as it really did need a makeover.
